PROFESSIONAL BIO

Adam “Teddy” Boyd is a nationally recognized leadership strategist, decorated Air Force officer, and founder of Leadership Physics—a ground-breaking, first-principles framework designed to make leadership understandable, teachable, and actionable for anyone. With over 19 years of military service, Teddy has led at multiple levels—from combat missions to the West Wing—and is known for his ability to distill complexity into clarity, build elite teams, and drive strategic transformation in high-pressure environments.

Teddy began his career as a C-17 special operations pilot, executing combat airlift missions in Afghanistan and Iraq. After catching the leadership bug early, he quickly rose through the ranks to command some of the Air Force’s largest and most complex organizations. As a flight commander, he led the massive Aircrew Flight Equipment organization, overseeing 45 Airmen and Civilians, managing $36 million life-support equipment that protected more than 1,400 aircrew members.

Recognized for his leadership potential, Teddy was selected for PHOENIX MOBILITY, Air Mobility Command’s premier leadership development program. During this assignment, he became Director of Operations for the highest-tempo mobility squadron in the Pacific Theater, leading a Squadron of more than 400 Airman in daily logistics, personnel, and contingency operations across the Indo-Pacific region.

In 2017, Teddy was selected to serve as a Military Aide to the President of the United States, one of the most selective and trusted positions in the Armed Forces. In this role, he provided direct operational and strategic support to the Commander in Chief, oversaw critical continuity of government systems, and played a key role in coordinating presidential-level emergency response and international diplomacy. His duties spanned both the ceremonial and the consequential, operating at the intersection of national security, executive decision-making, and global engagement.

Following his White House assignment, Teddy was tapped to lead a sweeping transformation of how the Air Force trains its mobility aircrews. He established and directed the Mobility Aircrew Training Transformation Task Force, a cross-functional team of over 30 experts charged with redesigning pilot training across the enterprise. The goal: to revolutionize how aviators are prepared to operate large aircraft in contested, high-end warfare. To achieve this, Teddy mapped the cognitive process of graduate-level learning in aviation, integrated insights from neuroscience and adult education, and applied cutting-edge technology to maximize learning effectiveness. The resulting model drew praise from senior leaders across the Department of Defense and was hailed by multiple major airlines as “the future of aviation training.”

Teddy then assumed command of the Air Force’s first KC-46 squadron, taking it from inception to initial operational capability—increasing output over 600%. He was tasked not only with scaling operations but also with driving a deliberate cultural transformation to reset expectations and build a high-trust, high-performance team. He oversaw the integration of new systems, developed training pipelines, and managed more than $2.5 billion in aircraft, programs, and infrastructure. Under his leadership, the squadron delivered enterprise-level innovation and was recognized as the Command’s Top Operations Squadron of the Year.

Teddy holds a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College, where he graduated as a Distinguished Graduate. He earned a Master of Arts in International Public Policy (Strategic Studies) from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, and a Master of Arts in International Relations, with honors, from American Military University. He received his Bachelor of Science in Management from the United States Air Force Academy, where he was recognized as a Distinguished Management Major.

His professional military education includes the Squadron Officer School, where he was named a Distinguished Graduate, and he also holds an Executive Certificate in Leadership and Management from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame.
